Be cunning, play cunning, and pickup craps the ideal way!
Dice and dice games goes back to the Crusades, but modern craps is only about 100 years old. Current craps evolved from the ancient Anglo game referred to as Hazard. Nobody absolutely knows the beginnings of the game, but Hazard is believed to have been made up by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, in the twelfth century. It’s presumed that Sir William’s soldiers enjoyed Hazard amid a siege on the citadel Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was derived from the citadel’s name.
Early French colonists brought the game Hazard to Nova Scotia. In the 18th century, when driven away by the British, the French moved down south and settled in the south of Louisiana where they at a later time became known as Cajuns. When they fled Acadia, they took their favorite game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it fair mathematically. It is believed that the Cajuns altered the title to craps, which is derived from the name of the bad luck toss of snake-eyes in the game of Hazard, referred to as "crabs."
From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi scows and all over the country. A great many acknowledge the dice builder John H. Winn as the founder of current craps. In the early 1900s, Winn built the modern craps setup. He created the Do not Pass line so players can bet on the dice to not win. Later, he designed the spaces for Place wagers and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
